My Guide To A Grown-Ups-Only Weekend In Vegas

It’s rare that we get a bit of time away to just be grown-ups and though it’s wonderful going on vacation with the kids, there’s a lot to be said for some adults-only time.

We were lucky enough to jet off to Vegas recently, a city that’s totally geared up for fun of the adult variety.

If you’re looking for a romantic break where you can really let your hair down, then Vegas could be a great destination.

This guide will help you to ensure that if you do book a Vegas break, you squeeze the very most out of every minute of your trip.

My Guide To A Grown-Ups-Only Weekend In Vegas

Prepare Ahead of Time

Do not prepare, prepare to fail is a saying for a reason. As with every trip it pays to be prepared ahead of time, but this is particularly true with Vegas.

There are lots of experiences that you could save money on or get more enjoyment from if you spend a little time prepping beforehand. For example, everybody knows that Vegas is the casino capital of the world, but a lot of people forget to practice a couple of games ahead of time.

Knowing what you’re doing when you hit the roulette table at a casino helps you to feel confident in placing your bets, which is how everyone wants to feel on holiday.

So if you’re looking for a reason to play live casino games before you set off, then there it is.

Getting a couple of rounds of blackjack, roulette, or poker if you’re feeling more adventurous under your belt before you set foot into one of the mammoth casinos will help you to feel cool, calm, and collected.

The other main preparations that you should be doing before any vacation are packing, of course, but also looking at the activities that you might like to take part in.

Vegas has tons of tourists, so there are often voucher codes and deals to be found for some touristy activities.

If you’re looking to join in with a buffet, go on a Grand Canyon tour, take part in a pool party, or watch one of the residencies then searching online for vouchers and discount codes ahead of time could save you a stack of money.

Catch The Sights from The Sky

With your preparations out of the way, it’s time to see some sights.

The Las Vegas Strip is the busiest road in town and is the perfect place for people-watching and taking in some of the most famous touristic spots. Whilst it’s fun to do this as just a leisurely stroll, if you’re looking for a more high-octane experience then taking a zip wire right over the strip is great fun.

There are a couple of different companies that provide a zipline experience, but both will allow you to soar above Vegas, giving you a genuine eagle-eye view.

This experience is different depending on whether you go during the day or at night, we enjoyed our trip at night because the neon lights were beautiful in the dark sky.

Act Like a Venetian for the Day

All of Vegas’ resorts are the epitome of opulence, but when it comes to experiencing something truly incredible, the Venetian might be the most over the top.

This resort was based entirely on the city of Venice, and it does a remarkable job of bringing some of that Venetian charm to the deserts of Nevada. A stay at the Venetian will set you back a pretty penny, but it is still possible to visit even if you’re not staying there.

We suggest taking a trip on one of the gondolas to familiarise yourself with the resort and then stopping off at one of the scenic Venetian streets to do some shopping in the boutique-style shops.

Finish off your afternoon with an Aperol Spritz and you’ll be ready for the next part of the adventure.

Buffet For Lunch, Cocktails for Dinner

Vegas is famous for its buffets and for good reason, they’re incredible.

The Bacchanal buffet at Caesar’s Palace is widely accepted as one of the very best. There are many fresh food counters where you can order food cooked exactly to your liking, but the pre-prepared stations are delicious too.

You’ll find top-quality steaks, incredibly fresh seafood and any number of dishes from cuisines around the world.

Although visiting the buffet is a treat at any time of day, we found it’s cheaper to go at lunchtime and the array of food is still far too vast for even the largest of appetites to make their way through.

Plus, if you fill up at lunchtime, you can have a sneaky siesta in the afternoon and be ready for cocktails for the evening. We guarantee you won’t need dinner!
